City Overview

Key West is an island and city in the Straits of Florida on the North American continent. The island is about 4 miles (6.4 km) long and 1 mile (1.6 km) wide. Key West is about 160 miles (260 km) from Miami.

Key West was possibly the first American city to actively promote gay tourism. The eastern half of Duval Street is the main strip of gay nightlife, culture and community, home of the famous Bourbon Street bar and club complex.

Airport Transfer

Miami international airport is the largest international airport to Key West and the easiest and cheapest way to transfer is by Greyhound 160 mile. This costs $25 each way and should be booked in advance. Key West Airport (EYW) is 2 miles distance from the main area of Key West at the north east part of the island and as close by you can take a taxi.

There are only a couple of beaches at Key West so majority of people stay at their hotels or resort by the pools during the time visiting.

The majority of the night life is around the Duval Street area.

Aqua Nightclub hosts drag shows and live entertainment with late night dancing. Address 711 Duval Street.

Bourbon Street is a Pub with live entertainment, friendly strippers and a mostly male crowd which has been open since 1995. Address 724 Duval Street.

Saloon1 is the only gay leather bar in Key West behind the 801 Bourbon bar. Address 801 Duval Street.

Cafes & Restaurants

Key West has a good choice of cafes and restaurants. The typical burgers, shrimp and steak restaurants are popular. Look for places to dine with your eyes and nose to see the food being eaten by other diners and if the customers are cute.

Main LGBT Events

There is the annual PrideFest Parade every June which is popular with guys whom have been going to Key West for many years. Book your place to stay well in advance for this event as island gets fully booked.
